Record Number of People Now Not Working

You can spin unemployment numbers a lot of ways, but here's one statistic that cannot have a positive aspect. The number of people who have dropped out of the workforce reached an all time high last month. These people are removed from the denominator in calculating the unemployment percentage, so the official unemployment rate actually declined to 8.2% -- even as fewer people were actually working. People not working are not adding anything to GDP.
