The Benefits of Not Working

Casey Mulligan at the University of Chicago records how the benefits to those not working increased from about $10,000 in 2006 to $15,000 per year in 2010--a 50% increase. Basic economics tells you that if compensation for a particular profession increases by 50%, there will be a significant movement of labor into that profession. In this case, the profession is Not Working.
